International Noise Awareness Day

Noise Awareness

International Noise Awareness Day is a global campaign, founded in 1996 by the Center for Hearing and Communication (CHC). Their aiming was to raise awareness of the effects of noise on the welfare and health of people. The day is commemorated on the last Wednesday of April of each year. Activities aimed at creating a focus not only on noise, but also on means of reducing noise levels, are organized all over the world.

Noise affects people in many ways, but only deafness and annoyance receive actual interest from the general public. During any given 24-hour period, people are exposed to a wide range of loud sounds, including not only those at work, but also at home, school, and places of recreation.

Did you know that:
  • About 48 million adults in the United States have some noise-induced hearing loss.
  • About 1 in 4 adults who reported that their hearing was excellent or good had damage to their hearing that appeared to be due to noise exposure.
  • More than half of those adults with hearing damage from noise did not have noisy jobs.
  • 4 in 10 young people are around dangerously loud noises during events like concerts and sports games.
  • There is no cure for hearing loss.
  • Hearing loss is the third most common chronic health condition in the United States, and almost twice as many people report hearing loss as report diabetes or cancer.

Research shows that continual exposure to loud noise can also cause stress, anxiety, depression, high blood pressure, heart disease, and many other health problems.

ALPHA Acoustiki’s Contribution

In a world that the noise levels are continuously increasing, our mission is to create products and offer specialized services that aim to improve the domestic and work environment worldwide, minimizing the emission of noise and improving the interior acoustics.

Noise Awareness

Everyday we try to provide reliable and documented technical solutions to noise control problems (of industrial, building and everyday applications) in order to improve the environmental quality of interior acoustics. Part of our mission is to offer the means and the knowledge for creating acoustically correct audience halls (like concert halls, conference centers, conservatories, recording studios, etc.). Also, the design and construction of advanced noise insulated products like doors, sound attenuators, acoustic louvres and architectural acoustics products like sound diffusers, sound absorptive panels.

Raising awareness and protecting people from noise is our daily goal. We are proud & happy about it!
